ADL Satisfied With Designation of The 2002 LAX Shooting as A Terrorist Act
Los Angeles, CA, April 14, 2003 ... The Anti-Defamation League today endorsed the Federal Bureau of Investigations' decision to designate Hesham Mohamed Hadayat's shooting rampage at the El Al Airline counter at Los Angeles International Airport on July 4th, 2002 as a terrorist act.
Amanda Susskind, ADL's Pacific Southwest Regional Director stated: "The horrific assault committed against innocent employees and travelers was clearly intended to inspire terror throughout our community. On a day when Americans of all backgrounds were celebrating independence and freedom, Hadayat chose to target Israel's national airline and the democratic state it represents."
ADL commends FBI's meticulous and equitable investigation of the shooting and its categorization as a terrorist act. The League stands with local and federal law enforcement agencies against sponsors and perpetrators terrorism and hate-motivated violence.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
