Bullying and Cyberbullying Workshops

As a leading provider of anti-bias training and resources, the A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute offers innovative programming to help schools develop a comprehensive approach to prevent and intervene against name-calling, bullying and cyberbullying as part of a broader strategy to create safe schools for all students. ADL offers the following interactive workshops and assembly programs for elementary, middle and high schools on bullying and cyberbullying:

WORKSHOPS

Becoming an Ally: Responding to Name-Calling and Bullying (Educator Version)
  • Half or full-day professional development workshop for administrators, educators and student support personnel.
  • Becoming an Ally equips educators with the knowledge and skills to interrupt bullying by becoming allies to students who are targets of these behaviors.  By developing and putting into practice skills to effectively respond to name-calling and bullying, educators are playing a critical role in turning the tide of bullying and positively changing the climate of their schools.

Becoming an Ally: Responding to Name-Calling and Bullying (Youth Version)
  • Workshops available for upper elementary students (2 - 4 hours) and middle and high schools students, both half-day (3 - 4 hours) and full-day (5 - 6 hours)
  • Becoming an Ally empowers youth to become effectives allies in incidents of bias and bullying by increasing their understanding of the impact of name-calling, bullying and other bias behaviors on their school and community, educating them about the specific role of being an ally, teaching them a process to assess the safety of intervening,  and providing them with opportunities to develop and practice the variety of alternative responses to take action against name-calling and bullying.

Understanding and Addressing Cyberbullying
  • Half or full-day professional development workshop for administrators, educators and student support personnel
  • Understanding and Addressing Cyberbullying is an interactive workshop that provides professional development training for administrators, educators and student support personnel that helps them identify the unique features and impact of cyberbullying, learn strategies for empowering students to respond to cyberbullying, and foster a culture of e-safety among youth.

Cyberbullying: Focus on the Legal Issues
  • 2.5 hour workshop for administrators
  • Focus on the Legal Issues equips school leaders with the knowledge and skills to respond to cyberbullying through opportunities to explore key legal and constitutional issues, including free speech, privacy, liability and criminal law; to discuss hate crimes and bias incidents in cyberspace; and to examine appropriate school responses to cyberbullying and cyberthreats.

CyberALLY®
  • Half or full-day interactive training for middle and high school students
  • CyberALLY provides practical information and opportunities for skill-building that will support students in developing personal strategies for protecting themselves against cyberbullying as well as acting as cyberallies—preventing and taking action against cyberbullying and social cruelty in online forums.

Youth and Cyberbullying: What Families Don’t Know Will Hurt Them
  • 1.5–2 hour training for adult family members
  • Youth and Cyberbullying increases understanding of the language, skills, information and challenges associated with cyberbullying, providing tools for family members to help their children/teens respond in appropriate ways to incidents of cyberbullying.

ASSEMBLY PROGRAMS (60-90 MINUTES)
