ADL Calls On International Community To Condemn Barrage Of Rocket Attacks From Gaza

New York, NY, November 12, 2012 … As rockets fired from Gaza continue to hit southern Israel, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) called on the international community to condemn these indiscriminate attacks which target Israel's civilian population and to publicly extend support to Israel as it acts to defend its citizens against the terror unleashed from Hamas-controlled Gaza.

"In the past several days Hamas and the other terrorist organizations operating in Gaza have resumed the full scale targeting of ordinary men, women and children in Israel's south with deadly rocket fire. The situation is untenable. To date, Israel has shown tremendous restraint in light of this aggression," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director.

"Unless the shelling is ended immediately, Israel will have to consider all necessary measures to protect and defend its citizens. No country would do less for its people. The international community must make clear to Hamas that these attacks are unacceptable. All sectors of the international community must recognize and support Israel's basic responsibility to defend its civilian population."

In recent weeks, Hamas and other terror organizations operating within Gaza have stepped up their deadly and provocative confrontations with Israel. Between October 22-24, 77 rockets were launched against Israel, and on November 3-4, more than 100 were launched, with many landing in Israel population centers. The rocket attacks have continued today.
