New York, NY, December 3, 2013 … On the fourth anniversary of Alan Gross’ incarceration, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today renewed its call on the Cuban government to release him on humanitarian grounds.
Mr. Gross, an American subcontractor for a U.S. Agency for International Development program, and an active member of the Jewish community in Maryland, was arrested in December 2009, found guilty of “subversion” and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
“On this fourth anniversary of Mr. Gross’ imprisonment, we reiterate our call on the Cuban Government to release him immediately on humanitarian grounds,” said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. “We continue to call on other international leaders, particularly those in Latin America, who maintain diplomatic relations with Cuba, to do all they can to urge President Raul Castro to release him.”
Mr. Gross has denied all charges against him. His family reports that his health has severely deteriorated.
