2025 Report Card
Florida State University (FSU) has a Hillel, Chabad and and Jewish Greek life organizations.
What’s Happening on Campus?
In November 2023, the FSU chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) held a protest during which its members interrupted a meeting of the FSU Board of Trustees with anti-Israel chants.
In April 2024, at an anti-Israel protest organized by the Freedom Road Socialist Organization and Students for a Democratic Society, a speaker demanded that various Jewish student organizations — calling out Hillel and the Jewish Student Union, among others, by name — “be removed from FSU’s campus.”
That same month, at an anti-Israel encampment at FSU, protesters displayed messages that included "Victory to the Palestinian Resistance."
University Policies and Responsive Action
The University determined SDS’ disruption of the Board of Trustees meeting to be in violation of the Student Organization Code of Conduct and suspended the group.
In 2020, FSU adopted the IHRA Definition of Antisemitism and created a task force to review Jewish student life on campus that subsequently offered recommendations.
The campus administration worked with external partners and engaged in workshops for the University senior team focused on confronting bias, including examples of antisemitism.
While BDS resolutions have regularly been brought before the Student Government, they have repeatedly been defeated.
In August 2024, the Chancellor of the State University System of Florida called for a review of all state university courses for anti-Israel or antisemitic bias, including at Florida State University.
