Hofstra University
2025 Report Card
Hofstra University has a Hillel and Chabad, as well as Jewish Greek life organizations.
What’s Happening on Campus?
There have been a handful of antisemitic graffiti incidents on campus in the past five years, but there have seemingly been no official reports of antisemitic incidents on campus since the Israel-Hamas conflict started.
University Policies and Responsive Action
In 2020, Hofstra launched a “No Hate @ Hofstra” initiative in response to antisemitic graffiti on campus.
In December 2023, University President Susan Poser sent a message to students affirming New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s letter stating that calls for genocide made on college campuses are violating New York state law and campus harassment and bias policies.
Hofstra’s bias and harassment policy is “informed” by the IHRA Definition of Antisemitism, but that definition has not been codified. Similarly, President Poser said there have been no calls for the University to boycott Israel but that “we would oppose if there were."
