What’s Happening on Campus?
The University has seen a very low rate of incidents on campus. A student at the University of Hartford experienced antisemitic harassment in October 2023.
University Policies and Responsive Action
The University released a statement following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel that denounced the attack and terrorism against Israel, and announced two immediate gatherings to reflect on the attack.
The University of Hartford includes a definition of antisemitism as part of its Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice Glossary of Foundational Terms and Affirming Language. The University has also taken steps to offer some antisemitism education to its campus community, which includes non-mandatory antisemitism-related educational initiatives run via the Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies.
The University’s Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies and Hillel collaborate with numerous external Jewish organizations on programming, including the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford, the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford and Echoes and Reflections, among others.
