What’s Happening on Campus?

In February 2024, anti-Israel protestors, including students and community members, gathered to counterprotest a pro-Israel event on campus.

In September 2024, the Loyola Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) organized a rally demanding the university divest from its investments linked to Israel.

In October 2024, at an anti-Israel rally that involved students from both Loyola University and Tulane University due to the proximity of the two campuses, protesters celebrated the October 7 attack on Israel and displayed signs from Freedom Road Socialist Organization with messages that included: “Victory to the Palestinian Resistance."

University Policies and Responsive Action

In response to the escalating demonstrations on the neighboring campus of Tulane in April 2024, Loyola University President Cole issued a statement urging Loyola students involved in the protests to leave Tulane's premises, where they were trespassing.

The university also hosts an Interfaith Ministry designed to cultivate spiritual growth among students of all faith traditions and promote understanding across diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
