University of Nebraska, Lincoln (UNL) has a campus Hillel, access to the Chabad of Nebraska, and the Harris Center for Judaic Studies.

What’s Happening on Campus?

In January 2024, a swastika was traced into the snow at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

In May 2024, more than 100 UNL students and community members participated in a demonstration called the “Liberated Zone for Palestine,” calling for divestment from Israel. At an accompanying rally organized by Lincoln for Palestine, Nebraskans for Palestine and Students for Justice in Palestine at the University of Nebraska, protesters displayed signs with messages that included: “Zionism is racism” and “Resistance is not terrorism,” a slogan commonly used to support Hamas’s antisemitic October 7, 2023, terrorist attack.

University Policies and Responsive Action

Every other year UNL’s Harris Center for Judaic Studies organizes the Sommerhauser Symposium on Holocaust Education - a one-day conference that brings together Holocaust researchers, local educators, and the campus and broader community.
