What’s Happening on Campus?
In 2020, the University’s Student Senate passed a resolution condemning antisemitism, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring an inclusive campus environment.
Texas A&M has experienced relatively few antisemitic incidents in recent years.
In May 2024, at an anti-Israel rally organized by Aggies Against Apartheid and Muslim Students' Association at Texas A&M, protesters held signs with messages that included: “BTHO [Beat the hell outta] Zionism,” and “Respect existence or expect resistance,” a slogan commonly used to support Hamas’s antisemitic October 7, 2023, terrorist attack.
University Policies and Responsive Action
In recent administrative moves, the University’s Board of Regents decided in February 2024 to terminate its partnership with the Qatar Foundation, projected to be completed by 2028. This decision was supported by the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy, acknowledging the university's stance on maintaining distance from associations potentially conflicting with their educational and communal values.
In October 2024, the University’s October 7th program to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel was co-hosted by numerous Jewish organizations and Christians United For Israel.
President Welsh III has met with faith leaders to discuss campus-related issues.
