The 2020 No Place for Hate® Youth Summit is a newly designed and highly impactful series of virtual programming that originally took place during the week of October 5-9, 2020. We invite Middle School and High School No Place for Hate coalition members and coordinators from all around the Lone Star State to attend this week of content designed to inspire allyship and activism. 

Recorded sessions are available below. You can access this content with your coalition either synchronously or asynchronously. 

We hope this flexibility allows as many participants as possible.
 

 

Day One

Opening Day Mayor’s Welcome and CoMeTrY Keynote 

Join us to kick off the No Place for Hate Youth Summit. On this first day, you will hear from the Mayors of Houston, Austin, and Dallas along with CoMeTrY, who will use poetry and comedy to reflect on identity, allyship and activism.

Day Two

Identity Iceberg 

This self-paced mini lesson will enable you to: 

  • Understand that identity is multi-dimensional and complex. 
  • Distinguish between personal characteristics that are clearly identifiable and those that are not with the metaphor of an iceberg. 
  • Avoid making assumptions about others based on bias and stereotypes by seeking to understand personal and group identities.
     

Day Three

These activities are eligible for No Place for Hate activity credit. Must demonstrate school-wide participation. For directions on how to present these Sutori lessons click here.

Cyberbullying (Middle School) 

During this self-paced mini lesson, students will: 

  • Learn about the dangers of online hate and cyberbullying
  • Recognize the relationship between identity and cyberbullying
  • Develop a common language and strategies for confronting online hate and cyberbullying


Online Hate (High School) 

During this self-paced mini lesson, students will: 

  • Develop a common language and strategies for confronting online hate
  • Learn about the impact that online hate on individuals and groups
  • Reflect on the impact that social media has on perpetuating online hate


Day Four

Educator’s Voices From the Field 

This session is designed for the No Place for Hate Coordinator. You will hear from educators from throughout our state who will share their No Place for Hate best practices.

 

Day Five

Closing Day - A Call to Action 

In this final session you will once again hear from CoMeTrY and ADL Education Directors on how best to mobilize your voice against hate.
