Letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on His Strong UN Address

September 23, 2016

Benjamin Netanyahu
Office of the Prime Minister
Jerusalem, Israel

Dear Mr. Prime Minister:

We are writing to congratulate you on your stirring and effective address to the United Nations General Assembly.

Your call to President Mahmoud Abbas to meet you in person and to address the Knesset, your condemnation of the heinous terrorist attack in Duma and your words of empathy for the Dawabsha family, along with your expression of hope for peace, prosperity and inclusion for the entire region came as a sharp contrast to the Palestinian leader’s message of rejection and opposition.  ADL will continue to stand with you in fulfilling your commitment to “a vision of peace based on two states for two peoples.”

We also join you in your assertion that a combination of Israeli ingenuity, authenticity and evolving regional relationships can foster a new role for the Jewish State at the U.N., whose members have in the past upheld an unrelenting double standard where Israel is concerned. Please be assured that ADL will continue to work to ensure Israel’s equal treatment at the U.N. and other international bodies, and vigorously call out and oppose efforts to delegitimize and isolate Israel.

Best regards.

Sincerely,
