Antisemitic incidents more than doubled in May compared to last year following Mideast violence, according to new data from ADL. Online antisemitism grew significantly during the pandemic, with COVID-19 ushering in “a new wave of antisemitic conspiracy theories and hate in Europe,” the European Commission said in a report issued last week. Four members of the same family were killed in a pickup truck attack in London, Ontario in what authorities are calling a hate crime targeting Muslims.

“Police in Arizona are investigating after a spray-painted swastika and an anti-Semitic slur were found on the door of a Tucson synagogue… The graffiti comes amid a recent string of attacks on Jewish people in the US as tensions flared over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that saw hundreds killed over 11 days, most of them Palestinian, in violence between Israel and Hamas militants.” CNN: FULL STORY

“According to the report, which was based on research by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) in London and covered a period between January 2020 and March 2021, anti-Jewish motifs proliferated on French and German language posts on Facebook, Twitter and Telegram, with researchers identifying hundreds of social media accounts and channels “spreading antisemitic messages related to the COVID-19 pandemic.” Haaretz: READ MORE

- Canada Truck Attack Targets Muslim Family, Killing Four
“A pickup truck attack that killed four members of an immigrant family has shaken Canada, a country where immigrants are largely accepted, and drew denunciations Tuesday from Canada’s prime minister, who called it a hate crime directed at Muslims. The victims — two parents, two children and a grandmother — were on an evening walk when the driver of the truck struck them at an intersection in London, Ontario.
