Dear Representatives Raskin and Richmond:
Thank you for the important efforts exerted by you, Chairman Engel, and other key leaders to ensure that the Resolution you are introducing today represents a strong condemnation of anti-Semitism, including an explicit statement that the House of Representatives rejects the pernicious myth of dual loyalty that has been used to persecute Jewish people for centuries.
We are pleased that the House of Representatives is also taking a stance against many of the other age-old and vile slurs that have been used to harass, marginalize, and persecute the Jewish people for centuries, including the accusation of wealthy Jews controlling the U.S. government or seeking global domination.
What also has come to light is that there is still a great deal of work to do to educate people about what anti-Semitism is and how seriously it must be taken. That is work ADL has done for more than a century, and we will continue to do in the weeks and months to come.
We strongly agree that anti-Semitism, anti-Muslim bigotry, and other forms of hate constitute a threat to our democracy, and we appreciate the hard work put in this week by you and others to ensure that disturbing slanders against the patriotism of loyal Jewish Americans are not allowed to go unchallenged.
Anti-Semitism cannot be tolerated in anywhere in our society, especially in the halls of Congress.
Sincerely,
Jonathan A. Greenblatt
