False Rumor: Sephora and Ahava

July 18, 2014

There have been rumors spreading through social media that international prestige beauty retailer Sephora has discontinued selling Ahava products and Israeli brands.

The Anti-Defamation League has been in contact with Sephora regarding these rumors, and has concluded that there is no truth to them.

Sephora has been working to set the record straight, informing its customers and others through social media channels and other means that in fact the Ahava brand is sold by Sephora in Europe. It had previously been sold in the U.S. as well, but a decision was made several years ago to stop selling the brand in the U.S. for business-related reasons, not politics.

Sephora stated further that its decisions to carry brands and products are based on bringing excitement to its customers and meeting their demand. To this end, they seek to carry brands from around the world, and do not boycott brands based on their country of origin.

Consistent with this, Sephora does not boycott Israeli brands.

Sephora does not boycott Israeli brands.
