Washington, D.C., November 16, 2017 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today congratulated Michael Masters on his appointment to serve as the new Executive Director of Secure Community Network (SCN), an organization which provides security resources and expertise to Jewish communal institutions in the U.S. and works closely with the ADL on security issues.
“We commend SCN for its appointment of Michael Masters, a man who will bring significant expertise and experience to his new role and has served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps, Chicago Police Department, and Cook County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management,” ADL CEO and National Director Jonathan Greenblatt said. “In the wake of bomb threats directed at Jewish Community Centers earlier this year, the events in Charlottesville, VA in August, and evidence of rising numbers of hate crimes and anti-Semitic incidents, the importance of Jewish communal security cannot be overstated.”
Masters has worked closely with ADL for more than a decade when he was Chief of Staff for the Superintendent of Police in Chicago. He is a graduate of ADL’s two most prestigious counter-terrorism programs: The National Counter-Terrorism Seminar in Israel and ADL Advance Training School Extremist and Terrorist Threats Course.
“We are very excited about working with Michael and look forward to further expanding cooperation between ADL and SCN,” said David C. Friedman, ADL Vice President for Law Enforcement and Community Security. “The true beneficiaries of the ADL-SCN partnership will be Jewish communities and institutions throughout the country, which will be able to draw upon unprecedented security expertise from our two agencies.”
