Diverse business, philanthropic leaders joined Board effective Jan. 1
New York, NY, January 25, 2021 … ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) today announced the election of Geraldine Acuña-Sunshine and Donna Levin to ADL’s Board of Directors. Acuña-Sunshine, born in the Philippines, is a philanthropist and hedge fund lawyer. Levin, a social entrepreneur, academic and executive, is the first Black woman to join the board.
“We are fortunate that Geraldine and Donna are sharing their wealth of experience, gained from exceptional careers in business, nonprofit, philanthropy and academia,” said Jonathan A. Greenblatt, ADL CEO and National Director. “They both have been incredibly successful as entrepreneurs and executives. Their expertise will be an enormous asset to ADL as our Board of Directors guides our mission to fight antisemitism and all forms of hate throughout all sectors of society.”
Acuña-Sunshine and Levin were each elected to serve 3-year terms on the board.
Acuña-Sunshine is president of the Sunshine Care Foundation for Neurological Care and Research, an international non-profit organization dedicated to finding innovative ways of delivering free clinical and neurological care to indigent patients in rural areas of Asia. As a patient advocate, Acuña-Sunshine has facilitated international collaborations in the fields of medicine, public health and science to find effective therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. She is also Co-Founder of the Collaborative Center for X-Linked Dystonia Parkinsonism at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Acuña-Sunshine completed an undergraduate degree at Harvard College, as well as a master’s degree in public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School and a juris doctor degree at Columbia Law School. Prior to working in the social impact space, she held the role of Senior Counsel for over a decade at Bracebridge Capital in Boston. She also holds the position of Overseer on the Harvard University Governing Boards, Board Member of the Massachusetts General Hospital President's Council, Board Member of the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston, Co-Chair of the Harvard Kennedy School Fund Executive Council, Member and Former Co-Chair of the Harvard College Fund Executive Committee, Co-President of the Harvard Club of the Philippines, Board Member of The Rashi School, and Board Member of the Women’s Foundation of Boston.
Levin is the CEO of the Arthur M. Blank School for Entrepreneurial Leadership at Babson College, where she builds entrepreneurial leaders with empathy, morality, compassion, and drive to produce scalable solutions that can benefit individuals, communities, and the world. Levin has also held faculty appointments at Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan School of Management and served as the inaugural Executive Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at WPI.
Levin holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and a BA from Emerson College. Prior to her roles in academia, she co-founded Care.com, where she scaled the company through rapid growth and to IPO. Levin was also VP of Operations at Upromise, an online service that helps families save for college, which was acquired by Sallie Mae. Levin serves on the boards of directors of WBUR Boston, Zero to Three, Mass General Brigham Community Physicians Organization and the Mass Technology Leadership Council.
