New York, NY, June 3, 2020 … As the nation reels from another shocking case of police brutality against an unarmed African American man and as people of all backgrounds have taken to the streets for nationwide protests demanding justice, ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) is hosting its annual National Leadership Summit virtually this Sunday, June 7, with a line-up of prominent speakers who will tackle issues surrounding racism and hatred in America.
Confirmed speakers for the virtual meeting this Sunday include Van Jones, activist and CNN Contributor; Andrew Yang, former presidential candidate and founder of Humanity Forward; Jennifer Rubin, opinion columnist at The Washington Post; and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
Nearly 500 ADL leaders from across the country – who normally would have convened in Washington, D.C. for the annual ADL National Leadership Summit, which was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic – are expected to attend the online event, which will also feature remarks from Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL CEO, on the current state of antisemitism and hatred in America. The ADL leaders will also participate in a series of virtual workshops on issues of vital importance to America, including the rise in antisemitism, the scourge of racism, civil rights and liberties at this troubling moment in our history.
“At a time when America is struggling with issues of racism and hate, people are looking for answers and for leadership,” said Esta Gordon Epstein, Chair of ADL’s Board of Directors. “Our leadership is convening virtually to discuss and debate the issues and to hear from some of the leading voices about finding a path forward for our society in these challenging times.”
In addition to the plenary speeches, meeting participants will hear pre-recorded remarks from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo accepting the ADL America’s Democratic Legacy Award. And recipients of the 2020 ADL Daniel R. Ginsberg Leadership Award will be recognized.
Note: While attendance at the 2020 Virtual National Leadership Summit is limited to ADL leadership and board members, media interested in attending the plenaries may contact ADL’s Communications team at adlmedia@adl.org for more information and to register.
