New York, NY, January 28, 2025 … ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) is closely tracking the Executive action from the OMB which appears to freeze federal assistance programs, including those that support the security and resilience of the Jewish community.
Jonathan A. Greenblatt, ADL CEO and National Director, issued the following statement:
"While we do not have all the details, this action could jeopardize a broad number of essential programs that rely on federal funds, including the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, which provides financial assistance for security enhancements at nonprofit organizations and houses of worship targeted by hate-fueled violence. Furthermore, the freeze may impact various hate crime prevention initiatives such as the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Program and Khalid Jabara and Heather Heyer NO HATE Act that are critical in addressing and mitigating acts of hate and violence. ADL is committed to working with the Trump Administration to help policymakers understand the profound consequences that a funding freeze could have on efforts to combat antisemitism and extremism."
ADL is the leading anti-hate organization in the world.
