Organization Sends Letter Signed by Wide Range of Jewish and Pro-Israel Groups to Congressional Leadership
New York, NY, March 26 ... In support of two new resolutions opposing the fringe movement to boycott, divest from, and sanction Israel, ADL wrote this afternoon to Congressional leadership of both parties, along with other Jewish and pro-Israel organizations, to encourage widespread bipartisan backing. The resolutions, recently introduced by Reps. Schneider, Nadler, Zeldin and Wagner, and Sens. Portman and Cardin, are identical in both chambers and also emphasize U.S. support for a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians.
“The founding goals of the BDS movement, and many of the strategies employed in BDS campaigns, are fundamentally anti-Semitic,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL CEO. “The vast and swift support for these bipartisan resolutions from across the board critically demonstrates the true priority for Americans is working toward a peaceful two-state solution with Israel as a Jewish state.”
Today’s letter organized by ADL outlines why the Jewish and pro-Israel community strongly opposes the BDS movement for demonizing Israel, defying the existence of a Jewish state, and preventing progress toward a two-state solution.
