Los Angeles, CA, May 22, 2021 … ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) welcomed the arrest of one of the primary suspects in the antisemitic beating of several Jewish diners outside of a Los Angeles restaurant earlier this week. One of the perpetrators in the attack on La Cienega Boulevard was arrested Friday night and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. LAPD is still searching for a second suspect in the attack.
Jeffrey Abrams, ADL L.A. Regional Director, issued the following statement:
“We welcome the arrest of one of the primary suspects in the beating of several Jewish diners outside of a local restaurant this week. The diligent efforts by LAPD and other law enforcement agencies sends a clear message that hate crimes targeting the safety of any group of individuals will not be tolerated.”
“The numerous tips supporting the investigation demonstrate that Angelenos will not be silent in the face of hate. We are grateful that LAPD has requested that the suspect's bail be enhanced due to the crime being motivated by hatred and urge District Attorney George Gascon to similarly file and fully prosecute these as the hate crimes that they are.”
The attack was one in a surge of antisemitic attacks recorded across the country linked to tensions in the Middle East. ADL remains in close contact with the LAPD and community leaders as the search for additional suspects continues and has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators.
