New York, September 11, 2020... ADL (Anti-Defamation League) welcomed the historic announcement by the Governments of Israel, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the United States to fully normalize relations between Israel and Bahrain, which comes on the heels of last month’s historic UAE-Israel agreement.
"I applaud the Israeli and Bahraini leaders for reaching this historic accord," said ADL CEO Jonathan A. Greenblatt. "Making peace between nations in this manner is a courageous action that will help make the region a safer and more tolerant place. We hope the Bahraini and UAE agreements lead others in the region to revisit longstanding opposition to Israel and to move the region away from hate and extremism towards peace and reconciliation."
ADL has been engaged in conversations with the Kingdom of Bahrain's diplomatic leadership in recent years to encourage such important overtures toward support for Israel's legitimacy and right to self defense, as well as working to expand the circle of tolerance and protection of all minorities across the region. As more Mideast nations embrace coexistence and peace, we hope this will lead to the isolation of those in the region who systematically promulgate hate, extremism and delegitimization against Israel.
