January 15, 2019 Over the past several years, many people in schools have observed a surge in incidents of name-calling and bullying that target students because of an aspect of their identity. On a consistent basis, we hear about swastikas on school walls, hijabs being tugged at, outcries to “build the wall” and racial epithets being shouted in hallways and classrooms. Much of this perceived increase has been based on individual school reporting, general observations and gut…

January 15, 2019 White supremacist online forum Fascist Forge advertises itself as a “Home for the 21st Century Fascist,” and attracts some of the movement’s most extreme adherents.
Launched in May 2018, the forum is modeled after (and serves as homage to) the defunct fascist social networking platform “Iron March,” founded by Russian nationalist Alisher Mukhitdinov, aka Alexander Slavros.
Fascist Forge’s founder and moderator goes by the…
January 14, 2019 White supremacists have long been enamored of Rep. Steve King, (R-IA). They love his anti-immigrant, nativist rhetoric and his embrace of extreme right-wing groups and individuals that promote white nationalism. Last week, Rep. King went a step further to ingratiate himself with this crowd, asking, in an interview with the New York Times, "White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization -- how did that language become offensive?" Some well-known white…
January 07, 2019 By Rabbi David Fox Sandmel | ADL Director of Interreligious Engagement
I have traveled to Israel and the Palestinian territories a number of times with interfaith groups, including Catholics, Protestants, Evangelicals and Muslims, among them some African-Americans. A recent trip that brought together rabbis and African-American pastors from around the country, however, was different because the African-American experience and Black-Jewish relations framed the entire…
December 26, 2018 ADL has been monitoring anti-Semitic editorial cartoons in newspapers across the Middle East for decades. One regular source of such cartoons, which blatantly demonize Jews, is the Qatari media, notably by cartoonist Umayya Juha.
The prevalence of these highly problematic depictions led ADL to contact Qatar’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Meshal bin Hamad Al Thani calling for action.
Backed by ADL’s long time and…
December 24, 2018 In the weeks and months following the deadly shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, reports have emerged of a series of attempted attacks against various synagogues and institutions across the country. While these attacks were thwarted, the Pittsburgh massacre remains a rallying cry for some hardened anti-Semites, who continue to celebrate the killings as “another holiday to add to the calendar.”
ADL believes it is critical that the public and…
December 24, 2018 Sports tournaments and other international competitions have long been harnessed by some countries in the Middle East as part of their continued efforts to isolate and delegitimize Israel and prevent engagement with Israelis. This typically includes the host country barring entry to Israeli athletes; refusing to allow them to compete under the Israeli flag or play their country’s national anthem at medal ceremonies; and refusing to shake their hands or even compete…
December 21, 2018 Can you remember being a fourth grader? It’s a vulnerable age, where you’re just starting to gain more confidence and independence, yet you’re still squarely in the “kid” zone. Now imagine being a child this age and hearing the slur “dirty Jew” ringing in your ear, uttered by multiple classmates.
Melanie Roloff doesn’t have to imagine this nightmare—she lived it. In her fourth-grade class, instead of being able to…
December 21, 2018 With approximately 3 percent of the world’s Jewish population residing in Latin America, ADL works in partnership with the organized Jewish communal institutions to lend our voices when needed. Going into 2019, as challenges to Jewish community grow worldwide, ADL’s focus on strengthening relations with local Jewish communities across Latin America will continue to be paramount, particularly in areas of common interest.

December 21, 2018 64% of American households have a member that plays video games for three or more hours per week. And these gamers are not just kids. In 2017, the average age of a gamer was 31, and there were more gamers over 36 than between 18 – 35 or under 18. At ADL’s Center for Technology and Society (CTS) we know that video games can be a meaningful force for good in society. We think games can be incredible tools in helping to challenge bias and create respectful and…
December 20, 2018 Imagine the terrified, demoralizing feeling of going to your place of worship, and seeing hateful graffiti spread across its walls—graffiti that directly targets and assaults not only your faith, but who you are as a person.
That’s exactly what happened in Mandeville, Louisiana on September 5, 2018, at Northshore Jewish Congregation (NJC). Imagine being Rebecca Slifkin, who worked at NJC, whose concerned neighbors came by to tell her about being shocked and…
December 17, 2018 FBI agents and Snohomish County deputies arrested a Washington state white supremacist last week for allegedly making threats to carry out mass killings of Jews and other minorities. Dakota Reed, 20, of Monroe, Washington, was charged with malicious harassment—Washington’s hate crime statute—and making bomb threats. Authorities also seized a cache of firearms, ammunition and white supremacist propaganda from Reed’s residence.

The DJ, a black man, was reportedly punched and stomped on during the altercation. Each of the eight individuals faces malicious harassment hate crime charges for their alleged role in the assault.

by: Ken Jacobson December 07, 2018 November 29 was here and gone again, and the United Nations engaged in its annual anti-Israel fest on this date, which is the anniversary of the U.N. Partition Resolution of 1947.
It appears that as many as six anti-Israel resolutions were passed on a variety of subjects, including Jerusalem, the Palestinians and the Golan Heights.
On one level this could be considered a ho-hum. These resolutions have no power, they have a routine quality to them and…
December 06, 2018 A capacity crowd of over 1,200 people came together on Monday, Dec. 3 at Never Is Now 2018, ADL’s Summit on Anti-Semitism and Hate. We were thrilled to see so many business, community, academic and religious leaders mix with students to tackle the pressing and perplexing issues around anti-Semitism and hate. Check out a few highlights from the event!
ADL's CEO and National Director, Jonathan Greenblatt, kicked off the summit by addressing the current state of…
November 29, 2018 By Andrew Srulevitch | Director of European Affairs
A new CNN survey released just this week on anti-Semitism in Europe found widespread acceptance of anti-Semitic stereotypes, poor knowledge of the Holocaust, and barely a majority (54%) in favor of the very existence of Israel. The findings support those of previous polls fielded in Europe by the Anti-Defamation League.
While CNN used somewhat different questions from ADL’s Global 100 surveys in 2014 and…
November 27, 2018 UPDATE: In response to comments from President Trump regarding dual-loyalty concerns for American Jews, ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt spoke at length about the issue on CNN on 8/21/19. Please view the clip here.
The charge of disloyalty has been used to harass, marginalize, and persecute the Jewish people for centuries. Sometimes referred to as the “dual loyalty” charge, it alleges that Jews should be suspected of being disloyal neighbors or citizens because…
November 20, 2018 On Sunday, November 18th, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan spoke at Mosque Maryam, the NOI headquarters in Chicago, continuing his long history of anti-Semitic commentary.
In a rambling, often nonsensical speech, Farrakhan recalled his recent visit to Iran and addressed his comment in which he referred to himself as being not anti-Semitic, but “anti-termite."
“So when they interpreted my words, it caused many of my people to stumble. Why would…
November 19, 2018 In an email to supporters three weeks after the October 2018 death of Holocaust denier Robert Faurisson, English traditionalist Catholic bishop Richard Williamson reconfirmed his belief that the Holocaust is a hoax perpetrated by Jews.
Williamson, who considers himself a leader of the “resistance” against efforts to modernize the Catholic Church, is a former member of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), a Catholic group that rejected the reforms issued by…
November 15, 2018 In a chilling postscript to Robert Bowers’ murderous October shooting spree at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, authorities in Washington, D.C., arrested Jeffrey Raphiel Clark, Jr., 30, an on-line associate of Bowers. The November 9 arrest came after family members contacted law enforcement out of concern that Clark might become violent.
Clark was charged with illegal transportation of a firearm across state lines, possession of an illegal high-capacity…
