ADL Congratulates PM Netanyahu for His “Stirring” U.N. General Assembly Address

New York, NY, September 23, 2016 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today congratulated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his stirring and effective address to the United Nations General Assembly, in which he built a compelling case why Israel has a “bright future at the U.N.” and called on member states to set aside their biases against Israel.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu’a stirring and effective address to the United Nations made clear his expressions of hope for peace, prosperity and inclusion for the entire region.  This came as a sharp contrast to the Palestinian leader’s message of rejection and opposition,” said Jonathan A. Greenblatt, ADL CEO.

Marvin D. Nathan, ADL National Chair, added, “We congratulate Mr. Netanyahu for his vision on how the state of Israel’s combination of ingenuity, authenticity and evolving regional relationships can foster a new role for the Jewish State at the U.N. and other international bodies.”

In a letter to the prime minister, ADL contrasted his remarks with those of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, which stood “in sharp contrast to the Palestinian leader’s message of rejection and opposition.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Netanyahu made clear that he was ready to begin negotiations for a final peace deal between Israelis and Palestinians at any time, and made an open offer to President Abbas: “I invite you to come and speak to the Israeli people at the Knesset in Jerusalem, and I would gladly speak to the Parliament in Ramallah.”
